The detail:
Day 1
Flight to Reykjavik, and collection of your rental car at the airport.
Drive to Hotel Selfoss, in Selfoss for 3 nights stay. Selfoss is on the south coast 57kms from Reykjavik.
Day 2
Thingvellir, Kerid, Gullfoss-Geysir and Skálholt.
Drive up to Thingvellir, where the worlds oldest parliament was set up in
around 930 AD. Thingvellir is on the World Heritage List, first published by
UNESCO in 1972. From there you drive to Kerid, which is thought to be around 3.000 years old. Continuing on to Gullfoss and Geysir, you’ll have chance to visit one of the most remarkable tourist attractions in Iceland. On the way back you might want to stop at Skálholt. Skálholt was home to the head of the Icelandic Church from 1056 AD, which was located there for nearly 750 years.
Day 3
Skeiðarársandur/Jökulsurárlón. These unique surroundings have captured the attention of many filmmakers. Here, major parts of both James Bond and Batman movies were shot. Optional active trip on Vatnajökull, the biggest glacier in Europe. The trip takes about 5 hours and is suitable for everyone. You will be driven almost 9 km up onto the Glacier, where the view is simply stunning.
Day 4
Dog sledding. On this tour you will get a taste of dog sledding. During the tour you will be sitting on the sledge. The tour is planned to take about 45 to 60 minutes. It depends on the weight on the sledge, and the state of the snow, and can change a little from time to time. The tours are arranged mainly on the south coast during the winter. Remember to pet the big hairy Greenland sled dogs after the ride; it is the cheapest and best way to tip them.
Drive to Reykjavik and stay overnight at the Hotel Viking.
Day 5
Return the rental car at the airport and board your flight home.
